Instagram Takeover: Raja Belle Freeman

Akron Soul Train's Artist in Residence, Raja Belle Freeman, is a politically engaged performance poet whose primary focus revolves around the issue of police brutality. Her artistic work delves deep into the unsettling themes of media desensitization to the suffering of people of color and the apparent disregard for black and brown lives. As part of her residency, Raja will combine her poignant poem, titled "A Note on Trigger Warnings at the Commencement of Poems," with a unique visual art experience within the gallery space. This multisensory installation will employ alternating red and blue lights to unveil distinct words and images, providing a thought-provoking and immersive exploration of her powerful message.
