Saloni Parekh

Exhibition: Chaturanga

May 21 - June 14, 2025

In Chaturanga, Saloni Parekh explores the concept of God through a thought-provoking lens, blending Hindu and Islamic imagery with a contemporary examination of religion's role in society. This multimedia exhibition features installation pieces, wall-painted figures, and video work that collectively challenge traditional notions of divinity and critique the intersections of religious extremism, nationalism, and politics.

Parekh, a South Asian visual artist based in Knoxville, Tennessee, is known for her interdisciplinary approach, which spans painting, video, and sound design. A new visiting professor at Oberlin College, she brings a deep curiosity about religion and culture to her work, influenced by philosophy, science, and her own experiences. Her practice investigates the inconsistencies and shared truths across faiths, questioning how diverse belief systems can coexist while pointing toward a universal understanding of the divine.
